History

The “Deutscher Kraftfahrzeug-Überwachungs-Verein” also known as DEKRA, was founded in Berlin in 1925. Our head office is currently located in Stuttgart.

DEKRA Claims Services entered the Dutch speaking market in 1958, when Dr. K.M.R.R. Jacobs founded the company, BIRS-ISB.

Initially, the company primarily specialized in handling international motor vehicle damage claims with third parties in the Green Card system and developed from there - not just with respect to the extent of their work area, which grew to have the entirety of Europe in scope, but also with respect to their products, leading to development and growth in loss adjusting and legal aid (legal expenses) services.

In 2000, BIRS-ISB became part of DEKRA, which prior to that time had only been active in the field of Automotive.

Bartok Group - the Bartok Group started in 1947, when the loss adjusting company, Hettema en Disselkoen was founded.

By the end of 2008, Bartok joined DEKRA to strengthen and expand the services of DEKRA within the Netherlands. Hettema en Disselkoen having merged with Bartok in 2000, offered a full-service approach to the market with brands such as Extenso, Traxo, Toplis Hettema, Hedex, Corex and Rispect. Since January 1st 2010, all the above brands have been incorporated into and are known under the overarching name ‘DEKRA’: in particular, DEKRA Automotive, DEKRA Caribbean, DEKRA Claims Services Netherlands and DEKRA Experts.

DEKRA Claims and Expertise, the new company then formed by DEKRA SE, combined its activities with DEKRA Claims Services and as a result, became yet more renowned, especially in the Dutch and Belgian markets.

Since January 1st 2013, DEKRA also has its own staff resourcing and secondment branch known as DEKRA People.
